Honda manufactured the CBX 1000 from 1978 to 1982.
1978 - 1980 (CBX1000A)
1979 - 1980 (CBX1000Z)
1981 - 1982 (CBX1000B)
1982 (CBX1000C)
The CBX1000 was a high-performance motorcycle that was well-received by critics and riders alike. It was known for its smooth, powerful engine and its comfortable ride. However, it was also relatively expensive, and it was outsold by its more affordable sibling, the Honda CB900F.
Honda produced a total of around 40,000 units of the CBX 1000 between 1978 and 1982.
1978: 11,600 units
1979: 13,200 units
1980: 7,800 units
1981: 4,400 units
1982: 3,000 units
As you can see, production peaked in 1979 and then declined steadily over the next three years. This was likely due to a number of factors, including the increasing popularity of smaller, more fuel-efficient motorcycles and the rising cost of raw materials.

Despite its relatively low production numbers, the CBX 1000 is still considered to be one of the most iconic motorcycles of all time. It was a technological marvel that set new standards for performance and refinement, and it remains a popular choice for collectors and enthusiasts today.
I purchase this bike new in 1980. It’s the only motorbike that I bought new! My wife and I were riding more and the CB550 just wasn’t big enough to be comfortable for 2 up riding long distance.
We put thousands of miles on the bike traveling in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee before she became ill and we stopped riding.

I put in away badly in 1988 so it needed some serious attention in 2024 when I brought it out of storage.
